Linwater Meet4th--6th April |
|
A joint meet between Fife D.A.and Perth and Angus D.A.was held at Linwater on the weekend 4th -6th April, in which 35 units turned out for the meet. It was also Linwater’s 10th birthday.
Friday night was fairly cold so everybody stayed put in their units, apart for the few brave men and daft women who helped to erect the tent!
Saturday was cold but dry everybody went their own way during the day, But at night quite a few of us gathered in the tent for a drink and a blether. The new heater proved to be effective when used alongside the older one, so it became fairly cosy. (Or it could have been the drink!) Raffle tickets were sold in aid of our charity the Kinghorn lifeboat.
Sunday saw us wake up to about two inches of snow. Sunday was to be a day of action! The coffee morning was chosen to make the presentation to Jean (site owner). Fife D.A.have camped at Linwater, usually twice a year for the past 10 years, so it was decided to make a presentation of a birdbath to Jean so she can add it to her garden. She was also presented with a bouquet off flowers; Lorna made a lovely birthday cake in the shape of a caravan.
Lorna also provided the home baking for the coffee morning. Photos were taken and Jean was given two framed photos to hang up in her office. Some of the photos may appear on the web site for all to see. ( We all looked wonderful with wellies, raincoats and hats. Well, it had been snowing beforehand!) £49 was raised from the raffle for the charity, so thanks to everyone who bought tickets. A good weekend was had by all despite the snow. The kids on site were having a ball making snowmen .The website may show a couple of big kids who were in their element too!!
Margaret Morris, Thank you.
Jean sent a thank you card to the committee to thank the members of Fife D.A. for the birdbath and flowers, She also said her son enjoyed the remainder of the cake and the photos are the talk of the site.
The committee would like to take this opportunity to apologise to the members of Fife D.A. over any confusion about photos taken on the day or any other matters.

15 units booked for this meet. It was our first meet ever on this site.
It is a well kept site where we had the use of the facilities which were very clean. The warden also made us all very welcome. The weather was cold but dry. We all gathered in Bill’s awning for tea, coffee and biscuits on Fri night. On Sat everybody did their own thing. At night we gathered in the hall for a game of bingo. Bill & Lorna took it in turn to call the numbers out (which was nothing like premier bingo callers) with big prizes for a full house or a bag of chocolate buttons for a line. Sunday saw us at Bill’s awning for a coffee morning.

held on Sunday. The pennon parade and closing ceremony were held at 1.30 where Billy and Debbie got their own
back on one of the Irish campers who had a water pistol. On Sat night they had kilt for him plus a see you jimmy hat they then whipped the hat off and covered
his hair orange colouring. They then put on war paint and as he was posing for photos a young girl came from the back with a plate of shaving foam and
shoved it in his face he took it in good fun. A ceilidh was held on Sunday night. The site closed on MONDAY.
